Mastering Patient Assessment: A Comprehensive Guide for Healthcare Professionals
Audience: New and experienced healthcare professionals
Responsibilities: Instructional Designer, eLearning Development, Graphic and Visual Design, Prototyping
Tools Used: Articulate Storyline, Figma
Problem
At the conceptual hospital, Woodland Medical Center, varying levels of staff experience have led to inconsistencies in patient assessments, resulting in missed symptoms, incomplete data collection, and occasional misdiagnoses. Additionally, some staff members struggle with standardized documentation formats like SOAP, leading to incomplete and inaccurate patient records, which is impacting the continuity of patient care.
Solution
The solution to the problem was eLearning, which incorporates interactive elements that make the learning experience more engaging. This hands-on approach helps learners retain complex information, such as identifying red flags, following best practices, and asking critical questions. The use of tab interactions allows learners to explore each step of patient assessment systematically, including 'History Taking,' 'Physical Examination,' 'Diagnostic Testing,' 'Documentation,' and 'Clinical Decision-Making.' This structure ensures a thorough understanding of each aspect of the process.
